Position: Support Worker

Key Responsibilities:
 
Provide key support and care to clients within the designated service.
Offer personal care assistance to identified clients.
Play an active role in assessing and managing client risk in a calm and clear manner.
Manage client meetings and facilitate the involvement of Client Inclusion and Training representatives.
Ensure adherence to policies and procedures regarding medication management within the facility.
Assist in managing the referral process to achieve agreed occupancy levels within the service.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure that care services are provided in a way that maximises a person’s independence, choice and dignity. The indiviual will achieve this through in-depth and person-centred care planning, care assessments and risk assessments. The Community Team Leader will also provide support to the care team, enabling to understand each customer’s support needs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To work in the field and assist the Care Coordinator and Branch Manager. To ensure the quality of care being delivered is to the highest standard expected by Retain Healthcare.
  • To have a full understanding of our policies and behaviours framework and ensure that the organisation exceeds these expectations.
  • Ensuring customers have activities that support them to meet their outcomes.
  • Event planning for customer, families and staff inclusion creating opportunities for social interaction.
  • Shadowing and training new staff the practical delivery of care to support to our customer’s.
  • Carrying out supervisions and spot checks of carer’s and supporting them to develop their skills through feedback and reflective learning.
  • To take responsibility for the organisation and maintenance of Care Plan files in their area. To work with a team member when our standards have not been reached, providing continuous improvement.
  • Work in a flexible manner that meets the needs of the service.
  • Carry out new service assessments ensuring that an agreed Care Plan and Risk Assessments are in place before the service commences, unless, in emergency cover agreed by the Manager.
  • To ensure that every customer has a Support Plan and Risk Assessments that are regularly reviewed and detailed to meet their individual needs.
  • To communicate regularly and when required with customer’s and their family; informing next of kin when an incident has occurred if appropriate.
  • Contribute towards communicating changes to rotas and customer requirements within the community.
  • Ensure that carers adhere to company policies and procedures and ensure the care team are working within them.
  • To identify any further training needs of carers information observed or customer’s feedback. 
  • To ensure that the service operates at an Outstanding rating with the Care Quality Commission and that all organisational objectives are fully met by their team.
  • Maintain and always ensure that office records and notes are accurate and up to date, including the correct storing of information and adherence to the Data Protection Act and GDPR legislation.
  • Deliver good and effective care and support to all of our customer’s and ensure everyone has a good customer experience.
  • To model effective communication and hold regular team meetings.

Handyman/Driver

Job Title: Handyman/Driver
Location: Cheltenham
Hours: 15h (2 days) per week, over-time available 

Retain Healthcare is seeking a reliable and skilled Handyman / Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks as well as driving / collecting care staff. This dual-role position requires a versatile individual capable of managing multiple responsibilities efficiently and effectively,
You will need to be experienced in DIY, Painting, decorating and gardening
Clean driving licence, over 25 years of age for insurance purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide day to day maintenance work as requested and at all company sites / property
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address issues before they become problems.
  • Assemble furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, including waste management and cleaning duties.
  • Coordinate with external contractors for larger projects.
  • Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, and order new stock when necessary.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests
  • Develop a schedule of work for repairs and general maintenance including decorating, electrical testing, lighting and essential safety checks.
  • Carry out PAT testing inline with visual and electronic tests
Driver Duties:
  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport goods, equipment, and occasionally personnel to various locations.
  • Conduct regular vehicle maintenance checks of the fleet of 5 vehicles and report any issues to the management
  • Maintain accurate records and vehicle logs..
  • To assist in ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy, serviced, taxed, Mot’d and insured.
  • Check company vehicles to ensure
  • Follow all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • To assist in maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of all vehicles and safety checks
 
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar maintenance role.
  • Valid UK driver’s license with a clean driving licence.
  • Strong knowledge of various maintenance and repair techniques.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely..
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
