Postcards Of Kindness

In 2018, Your Health Limited, a care company based in South Derbyshire with care homes around the UK launched a successful campaign called Postcards of Kindness. The campaign asked anyone heading off on a day trip or holiday to send residents at their ten care homes a postcard. 

The postcards encouraged residents to remember the holidays they ahd been on as children or with their own young families, while stimulating conversations and inspiring happiness. Residents felt connected to the community and the wider world, and were able to travel vicariously via others' words and images.

The campaign went incredibly well and featured on BBC and ITV news as well as across social media. One care home in particular received thousands of cards from around the world with the campaign inspiring so many people from all walks of life to take part.

The same appeal is running in 2019 with the hope that many more care homes around the country - and further afield will take part. Your Health Limited want to inspire as many wonderful, nostalgic conversations as possible, and to spread holiday cheer to residents regardless of where they live.

Last year, many of the postcards sent came from Great Yarmouth and the surrounding areas, and we hope that happens again this year.

To find a care home to send your postcard to, join the Facebook group - Postcards Of Kindness. This is also where any new care homes looking to take part need to go.

Send a postcard from your day trip, short break or holiday to brighten someone else's day and to revive the tradition of sending postcards. Take a moment and forget the connectivity of the online world and it's many filters. Receiving post is a great way to spread a little cheer and to remind the care home residents that they are a part of the worldwide community.
