Job Description

SUPPORT WORKER - SALISBURY, ANDOVER AND AMESBURY

Retain Healthcare are a lead provider of experienced support workers. We are seeking people with the qualities to deliver the highest standards of care and support for individuals with learning disabilities including Autism, profound multiple learning disabilities and behaviours that challenge.

For this role you will need to have experience with behaviour that challenges and have undergone relevant training e.g. PBM or other similar training. As an agency support worker you will have a minimum of 1 years' experience and be looking for the flexibility to choose where and when you would like to work! We are currently working with a range of supported living services across Devizes and local surrounding areas who need some extra help for either long term block bookings or occasional agency support. A driving license with access to a vehicle would be advantageous but is not essential.

This role is extremely varied however may include:

  • Support with social activities, day trips, sport, searching for employment or attending college
  • Participate positively in learning and development
  • Support or prompt to eat and drink
  • Keep accurate daily records
  • Communicate in different ways to keep communication open and effective
  • Support with mobility inline with outcomes and support plan
  • Promote health and safety
  • Support with personal care if required while maintaining dignity
  • Support and encourage people to make choices and meet their outcomes that are important to them

    The purpose of your role is to give the highest possible standards of support to individuals with  learning and physical disabilities.

    Your duties will be assisting with all aspects of daily living including personal care, medication and healthcare appointments along with accessing the local community and maintaining relations with family and friends. Additional activities may include:
    • Trips to pubs and restaurants
    • Music and discos
    • Cinema and watching movies in the house
    • Gaming
    • Walking/exercise and some sport
    • Art and craft sessions

    Requirements for this role:
    • Minimum 6 months paid experience in care setting
    • A driver with own car
    • Experience with Autism and LD an advantage but not essential
    • Physical Intervention Training(PBM, PMVA) desirable but not essential
    • Right to work in the UK

    Key Responsibilities:
     
    Provide key support and care to clients within the designated service.
    Offer personal care assistance to identified clients.
    Play an active role in assessing and managing client risk in a calm and clear manner.
    Manage client meetings and facilitate the involvement of Client Inclusion and Training representatives.
    Ensure adherence to policies and procedures regarding medication management within the facility.
    Assist in managing the referral process to achieve agreed occupancy levels within the service.
    A satisfactory enhanced DBS and Adults Barred List check are required for this role, and job offers are subject to the Trust receiving satisfactory evidence of the successful applicant’s right to work in the UK.
