REABLEMENT AND HOMECARE CARE ASSISTANT - NORTH WILTSHIRE

Retain Healthcare have expanded our Reablement Support services and long term homecare services in the North Wiltshire area, this includes Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett, Chippenham, Devizes, Trowbridge, Westbury, Warminster, Marlborough, Malmesbury. Areas are divided into manageable distances for staff.

As a result of our community based work, we are seeking drivers to support these customers within their own homes following a hospital discharge or continuing long term care.

Shifts are generally between 0700-1400 and 1600-2200 with paid travel time, increased rates of pay for customer contact time and mileage paid between visits. However the long term homecare hours can vary to the shift times above in order to offer an outcome based service to the individuals we support.

No experience is required as we will provide you will a full FREE training induction and shadow shifts, ensuring you are confident and knowledgeable along your transformation into a community based Support Worker. You will be supporting people in their own homes to maintain their independence and reablement them back into the community. Duties could include;

  • Supporting those we care for to begin the day and end the day as they wish, including: getting dressed/undressed, washed and comfortable, prompting medication.
  • Working within a support plan with using outcome focused objectives.
  • Assisting with mobility through encouragement, hoists and stand aids.
  • Providing personal care where required.
  • Providing companionship such as going out into the community such as to go shopping, to appointments, church or clubs.
  • Being there to provide reassurance and emotional support throughout the visit.

To be a care assistant with Retain no experience is required, just a kind and caring nature! Although experienced workers are very welcome with enhanced rates of pay. Our only requirement is that you are a driver with a full UK license.

    • Following the outcome focused model, encourage customers to undertake personal care and tasks which they are capable of, recognising that their abilities may change, in some circumstances, on a day-to-day basis

    We at Retain Healthcare are looking for confident individuals to work in a complex care package in Chippenham.
    This package has two shift patterns, 08:00-20:00 and 20:00-08:00. Please note that night shifts are waking nights.
     
    The main duties and responsibilities include:

    • Remaining awake and alert for the entirety of the shift.
    • Completing regular checks for health and welfare.
    • Supporting the customer with their personal care needs.
    • Supporting the customer to meet their outcomes.
    • Supporting the customer with daily activities such as shopping, hobbies, attending appointments, accessing the community and keeping the home up together with domestic tasks.
    • Administering medication.
    • Use of moving and assisting equipment such as ceiling track hoists, electric wheelchairs, through the floor lifts, toto’s etc.
    • Encouraging independence where possible.
    Knowledge of spinal injury, autonomic dysreflexia, diabetes, stoma care and catheter care is desirable but if not, we can provide full training.

    Requirements:
    • Previous care experience necessary
    • 25 years old and over
    • Must hold a UK driving license

You will be working alongside a team of experienced and dedicated staff who specialise in supporting young adults with an Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Eating Disorders.  You will be supporting people with a therapeutic approach that enables them to live a fulfilling life.

    Location:
    The service is situated in Chippenham.
    Your duties will be assisting with all aspects of daily living including personal care, medication and supporting to attend healthcare appointments. Accessing paid employment and opportunities, exploring the local community and maintaining relations with family and friends. Additional activities may include:

    Requirements for this role:
    • Minimum 6 months paid experience in a similar setting
    • Right to work in the UK
