Mental Health Support Worker


JOB TITLE - Mental Health Support Worker - Safer Independence

Responsible to: Branch Manager

  1. Introduction:

A vacancy exists within Retain Healthcare; we are a dynamic recruitment agency and homecare provider offering temporary and permanent recruitment solutions to healthcare establishments both public and private, and individuals within their homes. This role will include building relationships with local authorities, social care and health community teams.

As part of our 'Safer Independence' TM service, supporting people with mental health conditions to live independently at home. You will be working with customers to tailor their support plan, ensuring they have a good quality of life where their health needs don't hold them back. You will need to have a passion for supporting others, reliance, compassion and the vision to build people up to achieve their goals.

  1. Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Working with customers to develop their own support plan that it centred around improved wellbeing for that individual.
  • Developing strategies with the customer to manage their daily living, such as, medication management, shopping, household running, work / education, social activities, personal care and health matters.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes for the customer and reporting areas of concern when needed.
  • You will need to have a passion for supporting others, reliance, compassion and the vision to build people up to achieve their goals.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to form professional relationships with our customers and a wider muti disciplinary team.
  • Ensuring that records and legible, accurate, non-opinionated and to a good standard
  • Have an in-depth understanding of safeguarding and your responsibility to report and record.
  • Customer confidentiality and the importance of appropriate information sharing.
  • Support the Branch Manager with branch reports, collection of data, being CQC ready.

The holder of this post should be able to demonstrate:

  • The branch and you, maintain integrity when dealing with matters of Customer confidentiality
  • A willingness to undertake training to develop new skills
  • A willingness to operate flexibility and to be accountable
  • The ability to work without supervision while adhering to company policies
  • An understanding of the needs of our Customers
  • Keep up to date on legislation and regulations

  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be approachable and quality oriented
  • Able to handle complaints and resolve conflict
  • Understand of the Care Act and Health and Safety.


  • You will receive the most up to date mental health and social care training, delivered by our inhouse training company Retain Skills who are endorsed by Skills for Care
  • Hourly rate starting at £13ph
  • 40p per mile
