Live In Carer

At Retain Healthcare we are seeking a live in carer, the ideal person for the role would be caring, compassionate, experienced within the care sector and able to work on a 2 week on and 2 week off rolling rota.


This role is to assist with the daily living of individuals within their own homes. Depending on the package assigned, you could be offering companionship right through to providing support for clinical needs, (full training provided).


You could be assisting individuals out in the community and to work, this could be for appointments and also for planned activities so having a full driving licence would be advantageous.

Working as part of #TeamRetain you will be an integral part of our Live-In Care team, you will be supporting our customer in their own home and ensuring they are able to enjoy a good quality of life whilst supporting good health and well being. With the ethos to reable skills where appropriate. We pride ourselves on supporting you in a way you can perform the duties required, and that you feel supported and empowered to deliver the best quality care for that individual.

We will provide you with full training, followed by shadow shifts arranged with an experienced carer, who will help you adjust to your new role, and we have ongoing telephone support available for when you are out caring for our customers. The quality of this service can only be delivered by people like you who want to make a difference to the individuals we support in the safety of their own homes.

We will continue to develop your skills through training and development to meet the needs of the customer.

Accommodation is provided for the weeks you will be working as a Live-In carer, meaning you could be based anywhere in the UK and travel to work for your allocated weeks.

    This package has two shift patterns, 08:00-20:00 and 20:00-08:00. Please note that night shifts are waking nights.
     
    The main duties and responsibilities include:

    • Remaining awake and alert for the entirety of the shift.

    Retain Healthcare are developing a brand new service, and we are looking for the very best support workers in Wiltshire to work within a specialist supported living setting in Chippenham. You will be working alongside a team of experienced and dedicated staff who specialise in supporting young adults with an Autistic Spectrum Conditions and Eating Disorders.  You will be supporting people with a therapeutic approach that enables them to live a fulfilling life.

    Location:
    The service is situated in Chippenham.
    Your duties will be assisting with all aspects of daily living including personal care, medication and supporting to attend healthcare appointments. Accessing paid employment and opportunities, exploring the local community and maintaining relations with family and friends. Additional activities may include:

    Requirements for this role:
    • Minimum 6 months paid experience in a similar setting

    We are looking for a new Team Leader!

    The main purpose of the role is to ensure that care services are provided in a way that maximises a person’s independence, choice and dignity. The indiviual will achieve this through in-depth and person-centred care planning, care assessments and risk assessments. The Community Team Leader will also provide support to the care team, enabling to understand each customer’s support needs.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
    • To work in the field and assist the Care Coordinator and Branch Manager. To ensure the quality of care being delivered is to the highest standard expected by Retain Healthcare.
    • To have a full understanding of our policies and behaviours framework and ensure that the organisation exceeds these expectations.
    • Ensuring customers have activities that support them to meet their outcomes.
    • Event planning for customer, families and staff inclusion creating opportunities for social interaction.
    • Shadowing and training new staff the practical delivery of care to support to our customer’s.
    • Carrying out supervisions and spot checks of carer’s and supporting them to develop their skills through feedback and reflective learning.
    • To take responsibility for the organisation and maintenance of Care Plan files in their area. To work with a team member when our standards have not been reached, providing continuous improvement.
    • Work in a flexible manner that meets the needs of the service.
    • Carry out new service assessments ensuring that an agreed Care Plan and Risk Assessments are in place before the service commences, unless, in emergency cover agreed by the Manager.
    • To ensure that every customer has a Support Plan and Risk Assessments that are regularly reviewed and detailed to meet their individual needs.
    • To communicate regularly and when required with customer’s and their family; informing next of kin when an incident has occurred if appropriate.
    • Contribute towards communicating changes to rotas and customer requirements within the community.
    • Ensure that carers adhere to company policies and procedures and ensure the care team are working within them.
    • To identify any further training needs of carers information observed or customer’s feedback. 
    • To ensure that the service operates at an Outstanding rating with the Care Quality Commission and that all organisational objectives are fully met by their team.
    • Maintain and always ensure that office records and notes are accurate and up to date, including the correct storing of information and adherence to the Data Protection Act and GDPR legislation.
    • Deliver good and effective care and support to all of our customer’s and ensure everyone has a good customer experience.
    • To model effective communication and hold regular team meetings.
