In this role you will work in a variety of community settings where no two days are the same, you will be supporting people within Bath and North East Somerset, including Midsomer Norton, Bath, Keynsham, Radstock, Westfield, Saltford and the local surrounding villages, ensuring they enjoy a good quality of life. The quality of the service can only be delivered by people like you, who want to make a difference to the individuals it supports.

As a Senior Community Carer you will also be completing spot checks, risk assessments, quality monitoring, staff observations, mentoring new starters and support existing staff in addition to the usual Home Care work.

Your aim is to encourage people towards the maximum degree of independence and to engage in activities appropriate to their abilities. As a Senior Community Carer your duties will include:

  • Assisting people when getting up in the morning including washing/bathing, dressing/undressing, maintaining their personal appearance and getting to bed in the evening.
  • Helping with the preparation of meals, drinks and snacks when necessary.
  • Providing assistance with toileting and changing clothes and/or bedding where necessary.
  • Maintaining commodes, washing clothes and bed linen (which may include soiled laundry) when necessary.
  • Providing assistance with other tasks of personal daily living that the service user cannot manage and providing general support as part of a caring team.
  • Encouraging and assisting with the management of medication, administering where necessary and monitoring health-related conditions such as dietary & fluid intake.
  • Helping service users with mobility difficulties, or other physical disabilities, including incontinence. This includes the use of aids and other personal equipment.
  • Covering office staff holidays and evening and weekend on-call, on a rota basis (Paid in addition)

To be a successful Senior Community Carer you will have the following skills and experience:

  • A full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
  • Love working with people and enjoy giving back to your local community.
  • Kind, caring and compassionate nature.
  • Be comfortable in coaching and supporting other team members.
  • Previous experience as a Carer or Senior. Full training is provided however NVQs and Diplomas are always beneficial.

As the Senior Community Carer, you will be required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and must be able to cover every other weekend, full time is preferable to complete shifts between 7am and 10pm on a rota basis. Your role will be a mixture of office and community work.

Work could be located across the whole of Bath and North East Somerset, including Midsomer Norton, Bath, Keynsham, Radstock, Westfield, Saltford and the local surrounding villages.

    How does Block care work?
    • Set shifts 7-2 and 4-10
    • We pay for 13 hours per day , regardless of contact time
    Main Duties and Responsibilities include:
    • When required liaise with Social Workers, District Nurses and other agency professionals within the multidisciplinary team.
    • Contribute towards communicating changes of requirements.
    • Ensure that you work within the company policies and procedures.
    • Attending training and expanding your personal development
    • Assist customers as appropriate with their personal needs, such as dressing, washing, meal preparation and access to their community as detailed in the Care Plan.
    • When working within a customer’s home setting you may be assisting customers with, or where necessary carry out light housework, such as dusting, sweeping/ vacuuming carpets, living rooms/ kitchens/ bathrooms and toilets, polishing furniture using dusters/ mops/ equipment, washing and ironing clothing and bed linen, preparing and cooking a meal.
    • Following the outcome focused model, encourage customers to undertake personal care and tasks which they are capable of, recognising that their abilities may change, in some circumstances, on a day-to-day basis

    Retain Healthcare, Bristol are currently recruiting care assistants to work within specialist residential care homes and supported living services in Bath for ongoing shifts. You will be supporting adults of varying ability to live a normal life.
    The role will require some personal care, house keeping and general companionship. The work will be onging and mainly 12 hour shifts both day and night.

    You will be working alongside a team of experience and dedicated staff who specialise in the care of vulnerable residents both full time and respite.

    The role will include:

    • Helping residents to remain as active and independent as possible
    • Respecting residents’ rights of choice, privacy and dignity
    • Supporting residents with mealtimes and personal care.
    • Helping residents with hobbies, activities and engaging in physical activities in a relaxed environment
    • Assisting with medication
