DEPUTY MANAGER
We are recruiting a Deputy Manager for 36 Hours per week on behalf of our Client - a well respected and prestigious care home in the area.
THE ROLE
The purpose of this job is to support the Manager to ensure that the Care Home is run in a way that meets the care needs of the residents, and the business needs of the company, whilst maintaining full compliance with relevant legislation.
Principle/Main accountabilities and responsibilities
To assist the Manager in the day-to-day running of the home ensuring that it provides a safe, caring and stimulating environment for residents in an individualised way.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that appropriate records are kept for clear reference.
To assist the Manager in developing and improving the homes systems so that high levels of efficiency are achieved.
To assist the Manager in developing and improving homes systems so that up to date best practises are utilised.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that clinical practises used within the home are of high standard and in line with up to date guidance.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that policies and procedures are kept up to date with the practices of the home.
To liase with outside agencies to ensure correct procedures are in place at all times. In particular Doctors, District Nurses, specialist professionals, the Care Quality Commission, Social Services and the Health Authority.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that a suitable number of appropriately trained staff are in the Home at all times.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that staff are appropriate for the job in terms of character, training and ability through good recruitment procedure, supervisions, staff meetings, handovers and training assessments.
To assist the Manager in dealing with staff grievances, disciplinary matters, and other staffing issues in a professional and timely manner.
To assist the Manager in dealing with complaints and other issues raised in the Home in a professional and timely manner.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that all communications in the Home are organised and acted on appropriately.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that the Home is sufficiently stocked with all required provisions (including food, medical, cleaning etc), by managing the persons responsible for control of the provisions.
To reduce costs incurred by the Home where possible.
To strive towards maintaining full occupancy, through maintaining good contacts and reputation with all relevant agencies, and where necessary marketing.
To assist the Manager in ensuring that the Home complies to all relevant legislation at all times.
To ensure that care provided to the residents is above all else, compliant with the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety.
To assist the Manager in arranging for on call support to be available to the Home at all times.
To step in at short notice if staff are not available.
To solve a variety of unforeseen problems or situations as they arise.
To make time to supervise all staff, including those working outside of your normal working hours.
To visit and make assessments of potential residents, where appropriate travelling by your own car.
To ensure the health and safety of all residents, staff and visitors to the Home at all times.
To ensure that the equality and diversity of all residents, staff and visitors to the Home is respected and given due attention at all times.
Promote staff retention through professional approach to staffing issues and other holistic influences.

Performance Measures
Your performance in this role will be judged on your ability to:
* Handle staff/staffing issues.
* Minimise and solve complaints.
* Maintain a good reputation and high ratings with external bodies.
* Maintain both a high occupancy and good profitability of the home.
Knowledge, skills and experience
To fulfil this job role successfully, the applicant must ensure that at all times they are personally compliant with the Leadership in Management for Care Services National Occupational Standards.
Essential
NVQ / Diploma 3 or equivalent level qualification
Team leader experience
